Join our Christmas Campaign 2024!

This December, we’re encouraging our amazing community to join us in a fun, reflective social media campaign to look back on 2024 with attitude of gratitude! Find out how to get involved and why positive reflection matters in our blog post below.

It’s officially December which means it’s the first day of Advent! As we enter the last month of the year, we wanted to reflect back on 2024 so that our minds are free to look forward to 2025.

Therefore, for 2024 we are retiring our iconic Affirmations Advent Calendar for a brand-new Christmas Campaign that we are really excited about. We are keeping with the advent theme but instead of affirmations, this year we wanted to focus on the power of positive reflection and gratitude with a mix of looking back through the year and also things in our day-to-day life.

Why positive reflection and gratitude?

Positive reflection is a way to think about your experiences in a way that is uplifting and motivating and gratitude is the feeling of being thankful for what you have in your life. When practiced together, the powers of positive reflection and gratitude can be really beneficial exercises because:

💚 Helps you build confidence because reflecting on and recognising your achievements can boost your self-esteem.

💚 Can increase your self-awareness by helping you understand your strengths as well as your weaknesses which allows you to appreciate your own unique perspective better.

💚 Guides you in understanding why you feel a certain way, helping you handle these feelings and emotions better, increasing your overall happiness.

💚 Develops your problem-solving and decision-making skills as through reflection you can identify your emotions, biases, assumptions and habits that can influence you.

💚 Assists you in setting and achieving goals as reflecting can help you identify areas for improvement and create positive habits to work towards your goals.

💚 Helps you appreciate what you have and how far you have come whilst still being excited for the future.

How does positive reflection and gratitude fit in to this campaign?

The idea around this campaign is that it can sometimes be difficult to recognise good things that have happened to us or good times we have had – 12 months full of highs and lows and our brains are hardwired to focus on the lows. However, focusing on shorter periods can help us have more of an appreciation for 2024 and remind us that even in the darkest years, there is always a glimmer of good to remember.

So, how does it work?

We will be asking you to look back at a different month or theme from 2024 every day in December (like an advent calendar) and think about what you are grateful for from that time.

You can keep your gratitude’s to yourself or we invite you to share them with us by posting them on your Instagram and Facebook story and tagging us – If you don’t tag us we can’t re-share your story which would be such a shame because we want to build a little community of people who are taking part in this campaign so we can all celebrate together! We also encourage you to get your loved ones to join in to help us build up this community. You could even create a story highlight on Instagram to keep all of your favourite 2024 memories together for you to easily look back on!

At Hector’s House HQ we have already been doing some reflecting from 2024 and we are just so grateful for all of our amazing supporters, from corporates to volunteers to fundraisers to everyone who has shared any of our social media posts – we really couldn’t do this without you!

We have had a really busy year, in fact our busiest ever with 50% more support calls. We are so thankful that our services are reaching further afield and we are able to help more and more people who need our life-saving support. We are looking to make 2025 our best year yet by helping and supporting even more people so we would really appreciate your support to help us achieve this.
