Welcome to HecTalk – a group open to all men to come together and talk.

What is HecTalk?

HecTalk is a group open to all men to come together and talk. A place free of judgement, and free of any pressure to “fix”. Simply turn up, listen up, and if you want to, open up. You’ll soon realise that you’re not alone in going through whatever stress and anxiety the world is currently throwing at you. It’s said a problem shared is a problem halved, and that’s really our aim. To have you leaving the group carrying less than when you came in.

Why come to HecTalk?

We find that men often feel an enormous level of societal pressure to muscle through and maintain a stiff upper lip, to keep calm and carry on, to “man up”. It was famously said that “The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation”. Well, that’s an absolute crock. You aren’t at your best when you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders alone.

HecTalk is here to act as a confidential space for men to take a small but powerful action for their mental fitness. This is a great step that could begin the cycle of improving our mental fitness, before more serious help may be needed.

Countless studies have shown the importance of talking about your problems, and the catharsis of simply saying these things out loud. That being said, there will never be any pressure on you to talk if you’re not ready. Feel free to come along and get a feel for the room, and to see how it can help those who are talking. We understand it can be intimidating to attend a new group and to talk openly – everyone will be feeling the same at the beginning.  However, the benefits of your bravery in coming along could be enormous, and we endeavor to make the entire process as welcoming as possible.
