World Mental Health Day 2025🤗
Every year on 10 October, we celebrate World Mental Health Day. It reminds us how important it is to look after our minds and work hard to destigmatise mental health struggles.
This year’s theme is ‘Access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies.’ With everything going on, the world feels heavy right now. Even if you’re not directly affected by what’s happening, it can still be a lot to take in. It’s okay to feel that way and it’s always okay to ask for help.
We can’t control everything that’s happening globally, but there are things we can do to look after ourselves and each other when things start to feel overwhelming.

Sometimes it feels like the bad news never stops. We’ve been through a lot – a pandemic, climate concerns, social injustice, global conflicts, economic uncertainty and that constant flow of tough headlines can take a toll.
With phones and social media giving us constant access to what’s happening everywhere, it’s no wonder so many of us feel drained. Staying informed matters, but it’s easy to reach a point where it becomes too much.
If you’ve found yourself doomscrolling late at night, feeling anxious or just completely exhausted by it all you’re not the only one. Constant exposure to distressing news can leave us feeling powerless or on edge. But there are ways to protect your mental health and steady yourself when the world feels loud.

1) Set boundaries with the news – Notice how much news you’re taking in and how it’s making you feel. It’s okay to limit it – in fact, it’s healthy.
2) Ground yourself in the present – When global events start to feel too big, bring yourself back to what’s right in front of you. Try a grounding exercise, step outside for some fresh air, or focus on a simple moment.

3) Have phone-free time – If doomscrolling’s become a habit, give yourself a few phone free breaks during the day. Maybe switch to airplane mode in the evenings or keep your phone out of reach while you eat or rest.
4) Focus on what you can control – You might not be able to fix everything, but small actions still count. Doing something positive that you can have control over helps shift that helpless feeling into purpose.

5) Give yourself permission to rest – Rest is necessary. It gives you time to look after yourself so you can keep showing up.
6) Talk it out – When everything feels too much, reach out. A chat with a friend, a walk with someone you trust, or even a quick message can make a big difference. You don’t have to go through it alone.

However you feel today we are here for you💚🫶🤗
