September at Hector’s House💚✨
September was a busy month of connection and learning for us at Hector’s House. It reminded us why community really matters – especially when things feel heavy.
We started the month by saying goodbye to Norma, a wonderful friend and supporter of Hector’s House. Her funeral was a chance to celebrate her life and the kindness she brought to everyone around her. And a reminder of the lasting impact one person can have on a community.
Later in the month, we joined a Charity Networking Group in Tring, hosted by Community Action Dacorum. It was great to connect with other local charities and community groups who share the same goal – to make a difference for people who need it most. We left feeling inspired and supported.
We also took part in The Clare Foundation’s Angels’ Den, where charities came together to pitch to the Angels and try to gain funding. It was an exciting and encouraging space – full of energy and generosity. And we walked away with an amazing £10,000 all of which will go directly to suicide prevention in the local community.
We hosted another safeTALK session, giving people the tools and confidence to support those who might be struggling with suicidal thoughts. It was such a lovely group that came together to help make our communities safer.
We hosted a Wellbeing Workshop that offered support/advice on how to look after your wellbeing and best support yourself!
As we move into October and approach World Mental Health Day, we will be sharing more resources and more support.
Thank you to everyone who continues to show up, reach out, and care💚
