August round up💚✨
As summer winds down, we’re reflecting on our August here at Hector’s House💚 This month has been a great opportunity to recharge and work on spreading our mission of suicide prevention, awareness, and hope✨ Here are some of the highlights we’re so grateful to share with you…
Compassionate Herts💞
We were proud to host another Compassionate Herts session this month, a friendly, welcoming and free peer support group for anyone 18+ who has a history of attempted suicide. These groups are a chance for people to come together in a safe environment, share their experiences, and connect with others who truly understand. We are so grateful to everyone who attends and contributes to making these groups such a supportive space.
Hector’s Gentle-Man’s Club🎳
This month, Hector’s Gentle-Mans Club enjoyed a friendly game of bowls, which created plenty of laughter and light-hearted competition alongside meaningful conversation. Activities like this help build trust and break down barriers, showing that talking about mental health doesn’t have to be heavy. To find out more about next month’s HGMC email hihector@hectorshouse.org.uk.
HecTalk
This August, we facilitated 2 more HecTalk’s – a space where men can gather with no pressure or judgment. These sessions run every second Wednesday in Hemel and offer a free, supportive environment for anyone to share at their own pace. To find out more about next month’s HecTalk’s email hihector@hectorshouse.org.uk.
Meeting with Nestlé🤝
This month, we also had the privilege of meeting with Nestlé to explore ways of working together. Building relationships with local and national organisations means we can expand our reach and offer more support where it’s needed most.
Sunday Sanctuary🧘
We hosted a few wonderful mindfulness sessions on Zoom to help us welcome in another week. These 20 minutes (led by volunteer Katharine) have helped so many people find peace, solidarity and joy.
You are so welcome to join these free sessions every Sunday. Simply email us at hi@hectorshouse.org.uk – we would love to see you there!
In the meantime, if you’re after a moment of mindfulness find a prerecorded session here: Sunday Sanctuary – Relaxing meditation by volunteer Katharine✨
The Bottle House Event🍻
The Bottle House and The Bald Buzzard in Leighton Buzzard hosted a collaborative Beer Trail over the bank holiday weekend. In support of Hector’s House raising both vital funds and much-needed awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.
Customers enjoyed sampling a wide range of craft beers while taking part in fun quizzes, lively auctions, and even a chance to win tickets to BrewFest. The atmosphere was buzzing, and it was heartening to see so many people come together in support of such an important cause. Jonathan from The Bottle House was delighted with the success of the weekend – especially with the amazing backing from the local community and, most importantly, with the chance to spark conversations, raise awareness about mental health, and help break the stigma around suicide💚
Our hearts are full of gratitude for this August. Thank you for being part of our journey – together, we’re building a future where no one has to struggle alone🤗
