We have received an incredible write up from Kim Reed who took part in the Three Peaks Challenge fundraising for Hector’s House. Keep reading for Kim’s story…

What a weekend!

We set off from Tring at 9am on Friday, heading north for the adventure ahead. After a long 12-hour journey, we arrived about 10 miles from Fort William, ready to rest before the challenge began.

Saturday morning kicked off with a hearty breakfast before collecting the final member of our team from Dalwhinnie. A quick supply stop in Fort William, then we were off to the Ben Nevis car park to get changed and psyched up.

At 5pm, in light drizzle, we began our ascent of Ben Nevis. The climb was steady, and we made it to the summit in 2.5 hours – faster than planned. The descent proved tricky due to slippery conditions, but we made it back in around 5 hours total. No time to waste – we were straight back on the bus, hot drinks in hand, and off to Scafell Pike.

The journey to Wasdale was tough: six hours through the night, rain, traffic, and narrow twisting roads that made sleeping, eating, and relaxing almost impossible. We arrived at dawn – no head torches needed – and began our steep and relentless climb up Scafell Pike. Mist shrouded the summit, offering no views, and the descent was just as challenging. Feet sore but spirits high, we climbed back into the van, still on schedule.

More hot drinks and careful snacking to keep the nausea at bay, and we were on our way to the final peak – Snowdon. We arrived at 1:40pm and headed straight onto the Pyg Track, joined by Bobby the dog for the final climb. It took just 2 hours to reach the summit. Challenge complete!

We descended to a warm welcome from Rob and Belinda and celebrated with a well-earned drink at the pub. Photos were taken, stories shared, and we reflected on what was an incredible adventure and a massive achievement for everyone involved – those who climbed, those who supported, and the two drivers who safely got us there, covering 1,277 miles, providing hot water, encouragement, and staying calm under pressure.

The team included Sam Reed, Bryony Reed, Lloyd James, Craig Chapman, Duncan Munday, Kim Reed and drivers John Reed and Nigel Lacey. Together, we raised an incredible Ā£3,655 for Hector’s House, a charity close to our hearts.

Donations are still welcome – every penny helps support mental health and suicide prevention through the amazing work of Hector’s House.
