HGMC – May Introductory Yoga class

First and foremost, I’d like to say a huge thank you to the fantastic Sarah Robinson, who instructed this event for us. We met up at Carmenta life in Berkhamsted, enjoying the warm evening air and the church bells as we checked the attendees off our list on arrival. We had lots of new faces come along, which is always a pleasure for us. Once everybody was accounted for, we made our way into the studio and began to set up.

This particular HGMC event was event was fully booked, which made finding space in the studio interesting for us all, but with a little communication and some incidental physical contact later on, we made it work. Around half the attendees of the evening had never done Yoga before, and most of us had only tried it once or twice in the past. Which meant that for the most part. We were totally clueless about what we had signed up for. Fortunately, Sarah, is an excellent instructor and made sure that everybody could understand what was being asked of us, providing lots of practical advice and modifications for those whose mobility was lower.

The hour flew by in an instant. We were thoroughly stretched out, a little tired and sweaty, and all the better for it. As people gathered up their possessions we checked in with the newcomers to find out how they were feeling, and if they’d found a new hobby, or a new group they felt they’d like to continue with. Judging by their positive words, and the number of people already booked on to the next HGMC event, it seems to have been received very well. Our intention with these events is to give men a space to try something new, and to provide an informal introduction to Hector’s House. You don’t have to be in any sort of crisis to attend, you can simply be interested in that month’s activity, interested in meeting new people, or looking to prioritise some time for yourself. We hope to see you at a the next one.
